Death

by Nick Andrea

Whoever said that
life
was possible without
death
was a liar,
’cause, like the song goes:
it’s the wounds that heal you,
it’s the pain that reveals you.

Death is a dive
into the unknown abyss,
sometimes forced, sometimes
willing, never
freely chosen
by an ego that dies
over, and over again,
the price of its
limitation to see.

And down in that abyss,
the Holy Knife is a masterful surgeon
who cuts away the black cancers of our
attachments to what’s
false.

And, why?
Why the need?
Why, to reveal the diamond,
the diamond at the bottom
of the darkness;
cause see,
we never die to nuthin’
but what we really are.

That’s
the
Good
News.

So, you’d better let that Knife cut
you
deep, deeper, deepest,
’till there ain’t nuthin’
but love:
pure
unattached
fully present,
asking,
“How can I help you, neighbor?”

What
a
gift.

So, whoever said that
life
was possible without
death
was a liar,
’cause, he never heard the song:
it’s the wounds that heal you,
it’ the pain that reveals you.
