Gifts of Sorrow

by Nick Andrea

A tear of water rolls down the face
The inner child yearns for its other.

Alone,
Is that any way to spend an evening?

But, when three swords pierce the heart
what other choice is there, for

“The Wound is where the Light enters.”

An inner strength is
then
found,
One never knew possible.

Yes, my child,
Do not eschew the gifts of sorrow
They are the divine.

I guess, the point is that we’re never, ever, really alone.
