Over the years I have found myself and others waiting for something big to happen before we could dive head first into our mission in life. It’s like we’re waiting for permission from God in the form of some miraculous sign before we can move forward on the path. We’re looking for a miraculous healing, or a great guru to save us, or, in some cases, a giant ball of light to descend from the heavens and light up our crown chakra.
And when we don’t get such a sign we figure it’s okay to slip into our addictive, destructive, or at best, wasteful habits.
The problem is we’re waiting for naught. That is because we ARE the sign we seek. We are It. We are what we are looking for. St. Francis put this so eloquently when he said, “What we are looking for is what is looking.”
God doesn’t save us through someone or something else, God saves us through ourselves. Jesus said in the Gospel of Thomas, verse 70, “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.” (http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/thomas.htm) We have the power of God inside of us. We ARE the power of God. That means we have the potential to alter reality, even as He did. For as he says again in verse 3, “When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty.”
So do not seek outside for happiness. You have the key, you are the key. You have the power to create your life the way you want it. Good luck!
