We are the Light, the One consciousness, the most high. At the core of our being that is the truth.
But then why do we have to do spiritual practice? Because there is still darkness in the world, in us that does not know itself to be the Light.
On this path it is not enough just to focus on the light and the bright, the smiles and fluffy words. Spiritual practice is the process of finding the shadows and exposing them – the lies and the inauthentic-ities that exist in our lives, sabotaging our enjoyment of ourselves and others. And to do this we must go down into them.
The dark inner world f our souls is where our fears, phobias, and fantasies live. Yet, it is there that we shall discover our power because it is locked up in those shadows.
This is meditative process that begins with non-judgmentally acknowledging our truth. This can only happen in the moment, as Eckhart Tolle alludes to in the Power of Now and A New Earth. Your momentary truth might be something like, “I get irritated all the time by my spouse.”
But, we can’t move past such a blockage until we acknowledge it, and to do this we have to feel it in our body. We have to feel what it feels like to be (to use our example above) “irritated by our spouse all the time.”
If we stay with that feeling we might discover that we don’t like feeling that way. We also might discover something else – a space that wasn’t there before. Through descending into the pit and confronting the moment head-on it has lost its power over us.
This is a wonderful discovery because it allows us to create a new possibility, a new reality.
Your mind is the most powerful creative force in the universe. Know this. If it is ruled by shadows you will create hell on earth, but if it is ruled by the Light that you are you will create Heaven on Earth. Do not fear your shadows. You are the Light, and in a room full of darkness, all it takes is one match to light the whole thing up.
